The house was built on the site of the original trading post and fort at the turn of the last century by Archibald McDonald, the last chief factor of the Hudsons Bay Company. It has many of the original features. It is steps away from the historic Qu'Appelle River and picturessque Echo Lake. Relaxing walks, great fishing, and lovely shops are all waiting for you. Calling Lake Centre is an education and retreat centre of the United Church. Located 2 km from Fort Qu’Appelle, Calling Lakes Centre is a peaceful yet accessible “get-away” for meetings, workshops, retreats and family gatherings. The Centre is pleased to host individuals, church groups, business/non-profit/government groups and families.
